Deputy Commissioner Tim Fitzgerald has responsibility for Onshore Detention, Maritime Border Command and Operation Sovereign Borders of which provides strategic and operational planning, civil maritime, technical and surveillance capability support to achieve ABF outcomes; Customs, ensuring Australia’s customs and border policy settings support the efficient movement of legitimate goods across the border while detecting and preventing the movement of prohibited goods; and Tobacco & E-Cigarettes WofG Taskforce. Tim has extensive experience within the ABF, including Customs and Border Protection, having worked for the service for over 35 years. He commenced his career working in areas such as the International Airport, Shipping Control and Air Cargo, later undertaking roles within Enforcement Operations NSW & Taskforce Polaris (a multi-agency Taskforce examining and investigating organised crime on the waterfront in NSW), Investigations NSW, Intelligence & Targeting and Counsellor Customs, London Post.
