Fernando PERREAU de PINNINCK (Barcelona, 1962) is Head of the Risk Management and Security Unit in the Directorate General for Taxation and Customs Union (DG TAXUD) of the European Commission, where he is responsible for EU policy on risk management and controls, including analytics and trusted traders/Authorised Economic Operators.
He started a more than 35 years of career in the Commission representing the EU in the financial services liberalisation negotiations during the GATT/WTO Uruguay Round, and then assisting the Secretary General on economic policy coordination. He has had multiple leading roles in the areas of international trade and customs relations. Within DG TRADE, he has been Head of its Services Unit, responsible for the management of textiles imports and negotiations as well as of the dual use and export credit regimes, and led the negotiations of the trade in goods and other chapters of many EU free trade agreements. Before assuming his current position in October 2023, in DG TAXUD he was responsible since 2017 for the management of relations and the negotiation of agreements in the customs area between the EU and its neighbouring countries, as well for relations with the WCO.
