Brendan Pearce New Zealand Customs

Brendan Pearce is the New Zealand Customs Counsellor in Beijing, China. His representational responsibilities cover China and the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau. Brendan has over 22 years of Customs experience across a broad range of operational roles and has represented Customs in supporting major events held in New Zealand as well as leading several change programmes within Customs. Brendan has a background in process improvement and has led multi-agency teams to develop innovative enhancements that have improved services, risk management and delivered efficiencies at the border. More recently Brendan oversaw the national audit programme for New Zealand exporters and led work to improve trade compliance. In this capacity Brendan was a part of the Customs APEC team during New Zealand’s host year of APEC 2021 and managed the implementation of the enhanced Electronic Origin Verification System as part of the China New Zealand Free Trade agreement upgrade.
