Simon Lee Senior Superintendent / Head of Office of Trade ReCustoms and Excise Department

Mr Simon Lee is the Head of Office of Trade Relations and Public Communication of Hong Kong Customs. Having joined Hong Kong Customs for nearly 30 years, Mr Lee is a veteran in establishing partnership with Customs administrations, other government agencies, traders and trade associations. Since March 2021, Mr Lee spearheaded the development of the Hong Kong Authorized Economic Operator (HKAEO) Programme which commenced its operation from 2012. Under Mr Lee’s leadership, the HKAEO Team innovated new publicity campaigns, streamlined the accreditation mechanism and forged partnership with other government agencies in providing trade facilitation benefits to the HKAEO. The initiatives took Hong Kong’s special business environment - the majority of companies being SMEs into perspective. The numbers of AEO accredited and Mutual Recognition Arrangement signed under the HKAEO Programme have been on a robust rise.
